On our first podcast of the new year, meet singer, songwriter, part-time lead singer for the Country Super Group “Shenandoah”, and now record label executive.
Hailing from Boaz AL, Billy was born into a musical family and simply has music in his blood. His dad, Bob Droze, a country singer himself, encouraged Billy early on and it didn’t take the kid long to know that singing was what he wanted to do more than anything.
As a teenager he would perform anywhere, at anytime for anyone who would listen. If he couldn’t get somebody to take him to a gig, Billy would walk for miles, carrying his guitar down the country roads of Alabama to play.
Some of his happiest moments as a child were singing gospel with his Dad. One of the first song’s he can remember singing was “Old Rugged Cross”. From there he gained a deep interest in music, developing a style that is none other than his own – pure, soulful and true. He says his early passion for those good ole’ gospel songs, plus his love of bluegrass and traditional music are what have brought him to where he is today.
